Yayasan Sukarelawan Siswa (YSS) is fully owned by the Government of Malaysia through the Ministry of National Unity, Malaysia. YSS was launched in 2012 through the Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE), formally known as the Ministry of Education, and transferred its functions to the Ministry of National Unity on December 3rd, 2022. YSS is committed to promoting volunteerism through national integration and unity among Malaysians.

Since its establishment in 2012, YSS has successfully carried out 60 high-impact volunteer missions as core programme in Sabah and Sarawak, as well as in Southeast Asian countries such as Indonesia, Lao PDR, and Vietnam. YSS also implements projects involving communities with our strategic partners to target beneficiaries among the low-income households (B40) and other less fortunate communities.

As of now, 1797 Student Volunteers have been trained through an inclusive and immersive environment where volunteers eat, live, and breathe with the local community through experiential learning during the missions. As Alumni, they have access to ongoing opportunities to develop themselves as holistic individuals and create change within their communities.

The theme "Volunteerism for Unity”, reflects the aspirations of YSS in developing holistic and balanced students who are always motivated in creating a better world for mankind. YSS also wants to produce youth who are concerned, responsible and empathetic towards domestic and global humanitarian issues.
