YSS is hosting IVCO 2023 conference in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, in collaboration with the International Forum for Volunteering in Development (Forum) with support from the Malaysian Government. YSS is working closely with and reporting monthly progress to Forum’s IVCO Working Group and the Forum Board. 

It has been more than a decade since the last IVCO was hosted in Southeast Asia, which was in Singapore. It is timely as Forum’s membership is currently expanding to diverse groups of volunteer-involving organisations across the globe. The conference is expected to invite in-depth and holistic conversation covering viewpoints from the developing to developed nations of all involved in the volunteering for development sector. 

The theme “New Generations of Volunteers as Changemakers” focuses on the “new generations” in relation to the future of volunteering. It will bring together volunteer-involving organisations, policymakers, volunteers, and corporates to spark a conversation on providing an enabling environment for new generations of volunteers to flourish and continuously create impact.
